IAT- Institut Arbeit und Technik

Presentation

The IAT is a research and education organisation of the University of Applied Sciences (FH) Gelsenkirchen and a co-operation partner of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum . Its activities are aiming towards the objective of prosperity and quality of life and education. The subjects of the institute’s research, development, testing and diffusion are knowledge and innovation.

 

In national and international co-operations the Institute for Work and Technology carries out basic research, analyses of current development trends, concepts to increase prosperity and quality of life, innovative learning methods particularly by using new ICT. One of the main target group of the IAT projects are SMEs. In the last years IAT coordinates 3 projects aimed at SMEs. 2 national projects were oriented to the eLearning readiness. 

 

Activities

IAT activities aim at applicable knowledge and tools for enhancing social welfare and economic performance.IAT not only contributes to basic research it furthermore focuses on development, piloting and diffusion of innovative and sustainable solutions. The Reseacher Department is involved in the following issues:


Health Industries and Quality of Life

  • Design of system solutions for better prevention, healing and care.
  • Regions for health.
  • Qualification and work design.
  • Ageing, demographic change and its consequences for economy and society.

  • Knowledge for structural change.

SMEs in the knowledge-based economy

  • ICT¬knowledge sharing and communication.
  • Education & knowledge for disvantaged groups in the labour market.
  • Innovation through competence development.

Innovation, Space and Culture

  • Cluster and valued chain dynamics.
  • Structural policy and governance.
  • Geographies of innovation and innovative spaces.
  • Regional cultures,image and identity.
  • Research Unit Spatial Capital: Social spaces and gegraphies and capital and regional development.
